Looking for a nice, cosy little place to stop off for a coffee? ‘Owl’ bet you’ll love Out of Office! Proudly independent, it has grown into a small chain of 4 coffee shops. Team Tasty visited the Olney branch, but you can also find them in Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford and Rushden Lakes shopping centre.

It’s a great place to relax and unwind, read a book or do some quiet remote working. But let’s talk about the refreshments.

Two cups of coffee, with a chocolate brownie and almond croissant served on a wooden table

It may sound a little corny, but it’s easy to see that Out of Office is a coffee shop that cares. Bread, cakes and sandwiches are freshly made every day, using local suppliers where possible. Vegan substitutes are available if you need them, so don’t be afraid to ask. The speciality coffee is rich and delicious – and look how adorable the little owl saucers are!

The cappucinos were tasty, the almond croissant beautifully flaky… but we had one, absolute standout highlight that deserves a big hoot. Behold, the incredible chocolate brownie

Think gooey. Think melty. It’s one of those utterly delicious, close-your-eyes-because-it-tastes-so-heavenly sort of brownies. Proper naughty. And yes, we’ll be ordering one every single time we come back.

We challenge anyone to make a better brownie than Out of Office. No, really. Please make us nice cakes.
